Enzyme immunoassay for the detection of IgG antibodies to Neospora caninumThe Neospora-p38 ELISA Cattle detects IgG antibodies to Neospora caninum in serum samples of cattle. Compared to other Neospora-ELISA tests, it has an extremely high sensitivity (99%) and specificity (98.5%).
This is caused by the use of a single highly purified antigen protein p38, named after the molecular weight of 38 kDa.
The ELISA is used to distinguish Neospora caninum from other pathogens that cause abortions in cattle. A positive test result from an aborting cow is an indication of an exposure to the protozoan.
